A few Questions for the front man Grim about his band 'Is there a Godzilla'



1* Why the band name "Is there a 'Godzilla'???
I thought it was funny- more importantly its a stab at a touchy subject, not meant for the dinner table-

2* For peeps who haven't heard much of Godzilla what kind of sound are you going for??
I like the fun lo-fi rock and roll aspect- but really- its more like sadistic pub folk-whatever that means-

3* Who are your influences and why??
Nick Cave for his story telling- Iggy Pop- Joy division-Roky Erikson- Del Shannon- The Doors- the Zombies- The Easybeats- I think I like all those bands for the same reason- they seem like their the first ones to come up with their style of music- and in a way they actually are-

4* When they played a few of your early trax on the Portland radio station the chick said your music was "Zombie rock" what did you think of that???
I think that is a great compliment- I constantly hear music that would fit well with zombie movies- and music that doesn't belong in horror movie and yet ironically does end up fitting in just swell- I like to think I set my music up in the same sense of a horror movie-



5* There's rumors your wanting to up n move to Frisco do you think this will help the band move forward??
It could push us in the right direction- there's so much opportunity in that city- I can't wait to see what's in store for Godzilla

6* What's all the fascination with yanks loving Zombies and horror movies??
Its not just yanks- the Japanese and Italians and Germans are pretty big on it- I can only say my fascination with zombie movies and horror is that its distracting- with zombies the only thing you have to worry about is the laws of nature- nothing else matters- and with horror its like night and day- it spans over 24 hours or so and then a couple chainsaws to the chest and everybody dies-thee end- sounds sad but it makes me feel glad I don't have any werewolves living in my backyard.

7* What is your fav horror movie??
Dawn of the Dead- My ultimate dream would to be locked up in a Costco with my friends and family in a post apocalyptic environment-

8* If Godzilla was hunted down and you got the chance to have a Godzilla meat burger would you eat it???
That would be sacrilegious-so yeah I would have a Godzilla Patty Melt- oh man that sounds delicious-

Right now- you can find me on Myspace- if you really want a C.D you can contact me and we can work something out- But I think by the time the next album- ill have all the kinks to Godzilla worked out- for now- when you see my name on a poster- you should come the show- have a drink- come say hello- it will be fun- I promise
