Daniel Johnston

Watched The Devil and Daniel Johnston the other night. If you don't know who Daniel Johnston is you should jump on it and watch this Documentary on his life. Daniel is a singer/songwriter & artist who suffers from Manic depression.
From a young age he started recording his life day by day on a tape recorder, drew pictures of his favorite cartoon characters and set out on his mission to become a singer. He recorded his first Tape in Austin Texas in 1983 on a sanyo mono boombox.

Musically, Daniel is an acquired taste. Some think he's brilliant, others not so much. I wonder if he would be so famous if he he didn't have the tragic story of mental illness. Yet he set out for one goal to be famous and all i can say he did it. He kicked it with the likes off the butthole sufers and Sonic youth, scared them to death with his madness N tested alot of peoples time.
I s'pose i could go on and on about him.. He's amazing! But Hey i'll leave it up to you to check it out, listen to his tracks n make you own judgement.
